In franchizemanager (FZM), ACLs control users’ access to features, menus, and functions. Setting appropriate permission levels ensures that users only interact with the areas relevant to their role within the system.

In this guide, we’ll cover how to access, modify, and create ACLs so you can efficiently manage user permissions.

What are Access Control Lists (ACLs)

ACLs define what menus, features, and system functions a user can access based on their role. Properly setting up ACLs enhances security, streamlines user experiences, and ensures that sensitive data or functions are only accessible to authorised users.

View a User’s Access Control List (ACL)

  1. On the left, click Users.
  2. Select the User’s name.
    • Tip: You can search for the User using the search boxes at the top.

  3. The right of the User’s Profile page, under “ACL,” shows the current permission level assigned to that user.

Manage Your Organisation’s Access Control Lists

Important: You need admin account permissions to view and update ACLs.

View Your Organisation’s Access Control Lists

ACLs can be customised for each organisation, depending on the User’s specific needs. This means the ACLs you see may be unique to your organisation’s FZM setup.

  1. On the left, click Admin >  Edit ACLs.
  2. You’ll see a list of all the ACLs set up in your system.
  3. Click on the ACL name that you want to view.
  4. You’ll see a list of modules and a set of permissions that determine what users can access.
  5. Each module or feature in FZM can have three permission settings:
    • No Access: The user will not see the menu or feature. It will be hidden from their interface.
    • Read Access: The user can view the module’s contents but cannot make any changes or edits.
    • Full Access: The user has complete control over the module, with the ability to view, edit, and modify its content.
  6. At the bottom of the screen is a list showing which users are assigned to each ACL. This helps quickly identify who has access to what level of permissions.

Update your Organisation’s Access Control Lists

  1. Go to the ACL that you want to update.
  2. In the ACL screen, you can update:
    • Active Status: If you want the ACL to be on the User record, click Active.
    • ACL Name
    • Access to modules for this ACL: Click on the permission level you want for this ACL.
  3. If you want to update a User’s ACL, click on the user’s name at the bottom of the screen to go to their profile.
  4. To save your updates, click Save.

Duplicate an Access Control List

  1. At the top of the screen, click Duplicate.
  2. A confirmation pop-up window will appear. Click Yes.
  3. You’ll then be taken to a screen with a copy of the ACL. You can now rename it and adjust the settings. This is a quick way to set up custom access levels.
  4. To save the new ACL, click Save.

Conclusion

In franchizemanager, ACLs are a powerful tool. They enable admins to fine-tune the user experience based on role-specific permissions. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you can efficiently manage access control lists, ensuring each user has the appropriate level of access to perform their job functions.
